Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain is one of the first biographies written about one of music's most legendary artists. Christopher Sanford, the biographer, details the life (including younger years, marriage to Courtney Love, and the birth of their daughter), contriversal career, and tragic end to Nirvana's frontman, Kurt Cobain; quoting those close to the late musician and providing factual information regarding Kurt's life. Throughout the 367-page novel, Sanford gives his opinion on the media portrayal of Kurt Cobain, in which he says is in part to the star's later suicide.

1.) How do you view the media? Are they too harsh and invasive towards celebrities or are they just doing their job?

2.) Kurt Cobain was a troubled soul and turned towards drugs, yet many teenagers "admire" the musician. Do you think this is a negative situation, that they view him as such an idol given his past?

1. I find that the media is indeed much too harsh and invasive. I would be terrified if there were people who were constantly scrounging around for the dirt in my life.

2. Well, it is a negative situation, but I find that pretty much all of the world's greatest artists of anything seemed to "suffer for their art". So, how can anyone look up to any artist at all.

1) I think that paparazzi can be to invasive in celebrities lives. While all people have a morbid curiosity in stars people should not be following them around just so they can bash them in magazines and online.
2) I think that this is a negative situation because there were other outlets he could have turned to besides drugs and even though he was a very good musician, the fact that people look up to him is not positive.

1. Sometimes the media can be too harsh because they try to do whatever they can to get a story and find out what celebrities are doing. But also, that is their job and they are hired to get those stories no matter what so they are doing it to try and keep their jobs.
2. I think that they idol him for all his achievements and not for all the bad he has done. They should know better than to have him as an idol for him doing drugs and be able to control themselves. It could be a negative situation if they followed everything he did but they could make it a positive situation if they just focus on all his achievements.

1) I believe the media is way to invasive. All they are looking for is gossip. I also think its ridiculous how much attention that we give to these "stars".

1) I see the media as being far to invasive. They way they view celebrities is ridiculous they are just people and they shouldnt be criticized for everything they do.

1. i dont know what half the words in this question mean, but im going to wing it and ramble for you.
the media toward celebs has gotta be hard. but i dont think that it is responsible in any way for his death. that was strictly his own doing, forreal.

2. NO! i love him. he was an inspiration musically, no one has the plan to go out and get themselves addicted to heroin and die. duh.
every positive rolemodel has their downfalls and its just part of being human.
look at hannah montana bros, smoking weed and takin nudies.

1.) I think that the media is good at publicizing things that really shouldn't be out in the open.

2.) Nah, it's all good. It shows that change is possible with a positive attitude :)
