No Limits by Michael Phelps

No Limits by Michael Phelps with Alan Abrahamson is a nonfictional book that chronicles Michael Phelp's life leading up to his eight Olympic gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. "I think that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and you put the work and time into it. I think your mind really controls everything" (117). Phelps went into detail about the sport of swimming and how you have to be mentally strong to be able to swim. People always think of swimming as being an easy sport, but it is actually one of the hardest sports in the world. People aren't just born good at swimming, to be really good you have to have that extra something, mental strength. Phelps then goes on to explain all of his training and the things he had to go through leading up to the Olympics.

1. "So many people along the way, whatever it is you aspire to do, will tell you it can't be done. But all it takes is imagination. You dream. You plan. You reach. There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, with belief, with confidence and trust in yourself and those around you, there are no limits." Do you think that anything is achievable in life? If you want something bad enough and are willing to work for it will you get it, or are some things not achievable?

2. "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgement. I'm twenty-three years old and, despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and irresponsible way, not in a manner people have come to expect form me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again" (237). Do you think it is right to judge Phelps for the illegal activities he was caught doing? Should people talk poorly about an entire sport because of one person's mistake?

1. I think that if you are willing to put forth the among of effort needed, then anything is possible.

2. I think people are allowed to be disappointed in him, but everyone makes mistakes. He was caught up in the moment, and people experiment with drugs every day. Swimming as a sport should not be seen differently because of one person's mistake.

1. I agree Tesa, if you are willing to put the time and effort into something, than you can easily achieve your goals. You just have to be dedicated and determined.

1. I agree with both of you. In order to acheive goals they must be worked at.

1. I would love to say that anything's possible, however we all know that no matter how hard we try there are just somethings that we may not be able to get. If this was true then we would all be president, rockstars, actors or olympic athletes, this would be awesome if we all could do the things we dreamed for but the world cannot survive on those things alone.
2. I think he regrets being caught and everyone makes mistakes and we all need to learn to fogive and forget, however he is Michael Phelps, and he was a role model for America, he represented us for the entire world, and being in that position he should've known better.

I think if there is enough dedication and will in a person to achieve a certain goal then anything is possible. If someone wants something bad enough they have to fight through every obstical to get there.

1. I think everything is achievabl ein life but it depends on how hard you have to work for it and the connections you have with it.
2. No i dont think they should have judged him for one mistake doesnt justify a whole person. No the sport shouldnt be talked about poorly because of one person.

1. I think that anything reasonable is achievable. It all depends on your life situation basically.

2. I mean I look at it as a character flaw. People are going to judge, it's only natural. He was doing illegal things, so naturally people will think ill of him.
